Sunscreen: What You Should Know

Each day millions of people slather on sunscreen in hopes to prevent sunburn, or worse, skin cancer.  Many may not realize in their efforts to protect their skin, they could also be causing other harm to their body.  Sunscreen contains various chemicals that help to prevent sunburn some of which can be harmful to different body systems.  Ingredients like Aluminum Hydroxide, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, or even Fragrances can cause neurotoxicity, endocrine disruption, developmental/reproductive toxicity, allergies/immunotoxicity, biochemical or cellular level changes.  Scary?  Um yes!  Check out Sunscreens Exposed to learn more about the shocking truths.

I also know that a lot of people put faith in the amount of SPF in their sunscreen.  They assume, which seems perfectly logical, that the higher the SPF the better.  Right?  Wrong!  To find out why read this article.

After browsing through the top rated sunscreens, I did decide to order the Badger SPF 30+ Unscented Sunscreen, which earned an overall score of 1.  I haven't tried it out yet, but I'm really excited that I can now apply sunscreen without worry!
